The Principal

Daphne M. Hampson

Ms. Hampson’s depth of experience in hotel, resort, and village real estate and commercial development, asset management, renovations and repositioning, sales and marketing, operations, and finance provides the background for Strategic Hospitality Resources assignments.

In the ten years since founding Strategic Hospitality Management Resources, Ms. Hampson has been actively involved with Real Estate developers and Hotel REITs in building and/or acquiring Hotel assets for repositioning and renovation. Involved from concept development with the architect through the opening of 3 mixed-use luxury assets, Hampson managed all aspects of planning and budgeting for operations, establishing shared amenity protocols, and purchasing through to successful launch. Ms. Hampson has conducted due diligence and underwriting proformas for the successful acquisition of major hotel assets in Toronto and Vancouver and has served as asset manager for ten hotels. She has also consulted with international hotel chains in Europe and Asia, building brand strategy platforms and implementing operating standards.

Prior to founding SHMR, Ms. Hampson was Vice president of Lodging and Operational Excellence Leader at Intrawest ULC (since acquired by Vail Mountain Resorts), which owns, develops, and manages residential and commercial real estate at its mountain resorts and develops resort villages at third party owned resorts in France and across North America.

Before Intrawest, Ms. Hampson was a senior director with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. At Starwood, she was charged with responsibility for growing and maintaining the Canadian Franchise portfolio of full and select-service hotels and for managing the Westin Brand franchise collection across North America and the Caribbean. She worked closely with owners and asset managers to best determine positioning and renovations to optimize profitability and ROI. Ms. Hampson has held General Manager roles with branded and non-branded hotels at 3,4, and 5 diamond levels, where her leadership enabled record revenue growth, highly optimized profit performance, and company-leading Guest loyalty and satisfaction indices. She has extensive experience opening, renovating, and repositioning hotels. Revenue Management focus for every aspect of the hotel has resulted in top-ranked market share positioning.

Ms. Hampson received her Hotel Administration degree from Centre International de Glion, Switzerland, and a BSc in Neurobiology from McGill University, Montreal. She is a Certified Hotel Administration professional (American Hotel & Motel Association).
